Importers and exporters of wood packaging material (WPM) must meet requirements under the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures 15 (ISPM15) from January, 1st 2021.
Wood packaging material (WPM) moving between the UK and EU can currently move freely without checks or controls. WPM includes pallets, crates, boxes, cable drums, spools, and dunnage.
From January, 1st 2021, all WPM moving between the UK and the EU must meet ISPM15 international standards by undergoing heat treatment and markings. The material must also display a mark with the 2-letter ISO country code assigned by the National Plant Protection Organisation (NPPO) of the country concerned. It identifies the producer and the approved measure applied to the WPM.
All WPM may be subject to official checks either upon or after entry to the EU.
